We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, our legal bases for processing your personal information are:
  • Consent — where you have given us clear consent to process your information for a specific purpose (e.g., early access registration)
  • Legitimate interests — where processing is necessary for our legitimate business interests (e.g., Site analytics, security), provided those interests are not overridden by your rights
  • Legal obligation — where we are required to process your information to comply with applicable law
5. Cookies
The Site uses cookies - small text files placed on your device - to enable basic site functionality and collect anonymous usage analytics. We use the following types of cookies:
  • Essential cookies — necessary for the Site to function
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how visitors use the Site (e.g., pages visited, time spent); this data is aggregated and not linked to your identity
You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies may affect certain Site functionality. You may also withdraw your cookie consent by contacting us. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party advertising technology.

6. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
  • Service providers — trusted third-party vendors who assist us in operating the Site (e.g., web hosting, email delivery), bound by confidentiality obligations and permitted to use your data only to provide services to us
  • Legal requirements — where we are required to disclose information by law, court order, or governmental authority
  • Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or substantially all of our assets, your information may be transferred to the successor entity, subject to equivalent privacy protections
  • With your consent — for any other purpose with your explicit consent
We will never share your information with advertisers or data brokers.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Early access registration data is retained until you withdraw your consent or request deletion. Anonymous analytics data may be retained indefinitely in aggregated form.

When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymize it.

8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, loss, or destruction. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and regular security reviews.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security and encourage you to contact us immediately if you suspect any unauthorized use of your information.

9. International Data Transfers
UnitedBiome is based in Canada. If you access the Site from outside Canada, your information may be transferred to and processed in Canada, which the European Commission has recognized as providing an adequate level of data protection under GDPR. If your data is transferred to other jurisdictions, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
